As you probably already know if you read my blog, I had a miscarriage in July. We named her Kiana Elise. Kiana means "pure and untouched" and also, "God's grace".
Afterward I asked my sister in law Becca (bjf photography, check out her work here) if she would do memorial pictures for us. Then I found out that she is a volunteer photographer for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, it's an amazing organization that provides free professional photography services for parents of stillborn babies, or children/babies that don't have long to live. It's an amazing thing for people to give of their time to do something so special for those grieving parents. (Check out NILMDTS and the work they do) I know some of you might think this is morbid or weird, but try losing a child. The only memory these parents have are the pictures taken by these awesome photographers. It is a non profit organization and there is currently a contest involving several organizations, NILMDTS included. Because I think this is such an amazing organization that gives such a beautiful gift to parents, I'm posting the link on my blog. If nothing else, I hope you will check out Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.
Here is a little bit about the contest:

The Mommies Network is hosting our 2nd Annual National Auction online in late Summer 2011. We are planning to donate 25% of proceeds to a mom-centered charity. Nominations for charities were accepted through January 23, 2011. The first round of voting was held January 24-January 30, 2011.

The 3 charities listed on the website received the most votes during the first round of voting, and are part of the second and final round of voting, running February 2-5, 2011. The charity with the most votes at midnight EST on February 5, 2011 will receive the funds from The Mommies Network.
